Compassion

Compassion Ministries

At RBC our desire is to invest time, money and resources to love and serve those who are among most vulnerable in our community and beyond. These are some of the ministries we are currently connected with:

Cardiff Foodbank

Cardiff Foodbank, as a Christian charity, works to show the love of God, by distributing food to people in Cardiff who are facing a financial crisis.

RBC has been a collection point for food donations for a number of years. Everyone is encouraged to continue donating, even a single item, as everything collected is distributed across the city.

Paradise Run

Paradise Run is part of the charity Rainbow of Hope www.rainbowofhope.co.uk.

Paradise Run aims to share the Gospel and demonstrate it by the practical provision of food and clothing to those in need.

Consisting of a mobile ‘soup kitchen’ run by volunteers from churches across Cardiff, it provides soup/a hot meal, sandwiches, tea, coffee and conversation for those with less.

RBC has two teams that go out every four weeks, one on a Wednesday night led by Alan James, the other on Thursday which is led by the Pantmawr Life Group.

Homeless Night Shelter

Night Shelter Cardiff is run by a group of churches providing a warm place to eat and sleep for 3 winter months of the year for the homeless.

Rhiwbina Baptist Church provides a team of volunteers who run a shelter once a week at Calvary Baptist Church, Cowbridge Road East. The shelter sees around 80 visitors most weeks and the shelter helps to facilitate access to permanent accommodation and other services including healthcare. For more information, please email Helen Phillips, helen@oysterhr.co.uk.

Haven Trust

Haven exists to serve older people by providing practical help, support and friendship to those in need in Rhiwbina and north Cardiff for the sake of Christ and the kingdom of God.

We want Haven to:

    • assist older people to maintain personal independence and social interaction.
    • be open and available to all.
    • be safe and secure for those we support.
    • maintain the highest standards in all that it does, benefit all who are involved with its work, demonstrate God’s love.

For further information, to access the service or to volunteer to join the team please contact the Director.
