Our Mission

"We want to be a church that learns to slow down, and make space for God. Growing in our knowledge and love of Jesus. As we do that together, we hope it naturally leads to bringing hope, care and positive change to the people and places around us."

- Gareth Lloyd (Pastor of RBC)

Our Values

Community

A flourishing life is one that experiences true belonging and connection with God and with others. We believe we are created for authentic relationship and as we experience life together, in the highs and lows, the laughter and tears, we can walk a journey into true wholeness of being.

Gospel

At the core of everything we are and do is the message of good news, that Jesus has come into our world as “God with us”, to show God’s love for us, save us from sin, and establish God’s Kingdom so that we can share in God’s abundant life.

Honour

When we see each other through the lens of honour, we get to appreciate the beauty, strength, and creativity in our differences – and celebrate them. Honour enables people to be different from one another, yet still form connections where they are are free to be themselves.

Identity

In a world filled with broken, insecure, striving people, Jesus invites us into a life that is not plagued with doubt but is full of confident faith; not rooted in insecurity, but grounded in God’s love, where you are able to become a truer version of yourself.

Power

Jesus never intended for us to live the Christian life and follow him out of our own strength and power. He invites us to be filled and empowered by his Spirit each and every day – experiencing his intimate presence, bearing the fruit of his character and demonstrating his love-fuelled miraculous power.

Service

God invites us to join him in his mission of bringing renewal to our world, stewarding the gifts and resources he has given us for human flourishing, and to model his servant-love to those around us.

Our Story

Rhiwbina Baptist Church (RBC) was founded in 1934 into a thriving, leafy village suburb four miles north of Cardiff city centre. Initially using the school hall for prayer and worship this small group of Baptists quickly moved into a brand new church building where the remodelled RBC still stands.

From the original intent to establish a Baptist witness, to the present day church we now are, flourishing under renewal in the Holy Spirit, the heart of RBC has always been the same – to reach out to the local community and beyond with the life-changing message of hope in Jesus Christ.

You can read a full account of the church’s first 80 years in Sue Barrow’s book, “RBC at 80″ – copies available from the church office.
